WATER PURIFICATION

THE CRISIS

Over one billion people in the world do not have access to safe drinking water. That is about one-sixth of the world’s population. Unsafe water and lack of basic sanitation cause 80% of diseases and kill more people every year than all forms of violence, including war. Children are especially vulnerable, as their bodies aren’t strong enough to fight diarrhea, dysentery and other illnesses.

In many countries the water crisis is the primary reason as to why people are unable to rise out of poverty. Women and children usually bear the burden of water collection, walking miles to the nearest source, which is unprotected and likely to make them sick. Time spent walking and resulting diseases keep women and children from school, work and taking care of their families.

HOW WE ARE MAKING A DIFFERENCE

Here at Global Samaritan Resources we are making a difference and saving lives through providing safer and purer water to those in need. We achieve this through a process that you and I benefit from every day: chlorination.

We have partnered with New Life International to take water purification systems across the world that use chlorination as a means to pure drinking water. The New Life International Water Purifier is a unique system that creates chlorine from table salt to disinfect water and make it safe for drinking. It is a simple, light-weight, cost-effective water purification system designed and constructed for use in harsh environmental conditions with minimal resources.

HOW IT WORKS

The water purifier uses DC voltage (battery or AC with transformer), table salt and water to create chlorine which kills harmful bacteria in the water. The purifier can treat up to 55 gallons per minute depending upon water quality and the size of the unit. Each kit costs around $3,000 and can provide millions of gallons of pure, fresh drinking water. With your help Global Samaritan can provide the kit as well as the training. “The device produces chlorinated water at a rate that is more than sufficient to
destroy, with proper contact time (as instructed in the manual), illness-causing
microorganisms in the water.”
-Pentair Inc. Water Report, November 17, 2005.
